Piano Purchase Process
Selection, Preparation, Polishing, Tuning & Delivery
Buying a piano is a personal journey, and we’re here to make it simple and enjoyable. From helping you select the right instrument to expert preparation, polishing, tuning, and delivery, we take care of every detail so you can be confident you’ve chosen the perfect piano for your needs.
Our Process
At South West Pianos, we believe that buying a piano should be a joyful, personal experience. From the moment you choose your instrument to the weeks after it arrives in your home, we take care of every detail with care, patience, and attention — because every piano deserves to start its next chapter beautifully, and every player deserves the perfect start.
Stage 1: Choosing Your Piano
Visiting our showroom is the first step in your piano’s journey. Once you’ve found the one that speaks to you, we’ll guide you through the paperwork and purchase process. We’ll also discuss delivery arrangements and any customisations or upgrades you might like, from action improvements to finishes or modern systems. We want your piano to feel truly yours, right from the start.
Stage 2: Preparing the Piano
Before your piano leaves us, we carefully regulate and adjust every part of the action — hammer blow, let-off, key dip, back check, dampers, aftertouch, and more. These precise adjustments make a huge difference to how the piano feels to play, ensuring every note responds beautifully and consistently.
Stage 3: Polishing and Presentation
Every piano leaves our showroom looking its very best. We polish both new and used instruments to a high shine, and photograph every detail before it leaves, so you can see it in perfect condition. We believe a piano should be as pleasing to the eye as it is to the ear.
Stage 4: Piano Tuning
Each piano is professionally tuned before delivery. While transit may slightly affect tuning, this ensures your instrument starts its new life sounding its very best, helping it settle quickly and beautifully in its new home.
Stage 5: Delivery and Settling In
We work closely with our trusted delivery partners to ensure your piano arrives safely, on a day and time that suits you. But our care doesn’t stop there — we follow up a few weeks later to check how your piano is settling in, and to make sure you are enjoying every note.
At South West Pianos, we don’t just sell pianos — we help create lasting relationships between players and their instruments. Every piano has a story, and we’re honoured to be part of yours.
